Collared Kingfisher

Went to Changi beach, the plan is to shoot hornbill as i saw a few of them the last time i went there. Waited for 1hrs, no sight of the bird i want to shoot. When i was about to give up and proceed to the next location for sunset shooting, i saw kingfisher. This breed is Collared Kingfisher and it is pretty common in Singapore. So no fish, prawn also can..

Sunrise at Punggol

Wake up at 6am, get my photography equipments ready and at time 6.20am, i am out of my house. Drive my way to Punggol Marina, there is one area where no street lamp are available so my mind started to think negative...haha (Ghost 7th month). About to arrive at my location, surprisingly that the area is seal due to construction. Quickly drive to Punggol jetty, park my car and proceed to another shooting location. By the time i arrive there, it is already 6.45am. The sun is not out yet but i am able to see a very nice scenary.

At around 7am, the sun is up.

Lesson learnt from this experience

- Bring along a long range lens so that i can shoot a bigger size egg yolk.
- Remove any filter from the lens to prevent glare.
- Bring along a GND filter.

i will go there for sunrise shooting again....

Birding on National day 09

Wake up early in the morning 8am, went to SBG for some birding action.
At around 9.30am, waiting patiently for Sunbird. A lots of people are staring at me strangely that why i am standing there with my camera setup doing nothing.

Finally, my effort paid off. A few Olive-backed Sunbirds arrived.
first pic is a female and the rest is male. Th front of Male Olive-backed sunbird is blue colour.

I am happy with today result.. so went back home around 12pm.

While driving home, drive past Kallang MRT and i recalled that there are some terns actions nearby. So park my car and proceed to check out nearby bid drain. To my suprise, there are so many common terns. Quickly set up my camera for some actions.

Dun you come near me to snatch my food!!!

For you, my love.

Help!! The fish is too big, im choke.....

A good place for terns action.. will go there other time.

The Journey to the Buddha

Went to Lautau island on the 3rd day of the HongKong trip. Took a cable car there. Inside the cable, beautiful scenery everywhere...like paradise. Too bad the picture had reflection when i took inside the cable car. Maybe CPL filter can help at that time...

The main highlight of this place is the Big Buddha.

It is a tiring trip but worth it.

Review of HongKong Disneyland

i went to Disneyland on the 2nd day of my HongKong trip (20/7 - 25/7). Woke up early in the morning around 8am, took a train to Disney station and transit by Disney train to our destination.

Nicely decorated Disney theme train and station.

Here we are... The HongKong DISNEYLAND

Before purchasing of the Disney entrance ticket, there is a big fountain where Mickey mouse is surfing in the sky..... nice location for a family photoshoot.

The cost of the Disney entrance ticket is not cheap! After Hk to Sing $ conversion, it is around $70 per adult.

Once inside the Disneyland, this is the first building you will see is the railway station.

Proceed further, hoping to see Disney character walking around but to my disappointment, there is only tourists around.. WHERE IS ALL THE DISNEY CHARACTER??

Thereafter, i saw a status of a Disney character. STITCH :)

Behind it, there is a nice castle. Maybe all the Disney character all hidden at there.....

Disappointed AGAIN... no Disney character when i am at the castle....

Forget about those Disney character liao, so walk around while shooting.

Nice Forest tree house.. wanted to go up to see but due to the long queue, i give up. Maybe POOH Bear is staying there.

XIAO REN GUO castle

I was about to go out of the castle, i saw alots of people gather around a open area infront of the castle, i was wondering what happen... then i realise that there will be a walkabout by those Disney character that i am waiting for... COOL!!!

Standby the camera, ready for the SHOOT! Finally i manage to see them but they are shooting water... DAMN!!! i cant get close up shot, afraid that those water might damage my camera.. no choice, i applied SHOOT and RUN techniques.. LOL

After about 15min, show ended and i thought to myself.. well, $$ not well spent :(

Last thing to do before i get out of here.. take a family picture with Mickey mouse.

Conclusion... my first and last HongKong Disneyland tour.

Reason:
1. Entrance fee too expensive ($70 can do wonder than going in)
2. The duration of Disney show is too short (15min.... i was expecting 1hr ^^)
3. Not much of fancy structures or building.
4. Many gifts shop. (Spent too much $$, damn)
5. Area is too small (SG Botanical garden is bigger than that)
6. Too much queueing (i hate queueing.. )

2nd day at Cosplay

A hot weather. This time round, i will use my flash during outdoor to get more detail. Today is the last day of cosplay and i can see there are more people (photographer)as compare to yesterday. I also saw many cute anime character but too shy to approach them for a photoshoot.

Through this event, i had fun and the most importantly, the opportunity for me to practise portrait shooting.
